Beyn Collective is an interdisciplinary team of women focusing on participatory research methods combined with artistic disciplines. Our backgrounds range from journalism and writing to design and performance. We are currently based between Egypt and Switzerland. The collective was founded in 2019 by Shorouk El Hariry and Nike Dieterich, and expanded in 2020 to include Doha Elwazir and Nadia Sayed
We are currently working on our pilot project, looking at the depiction of women in Egypt in contemporary photography. Therefore, we collaborated with various photographers and conducted workshops in Cairo to understand how the photos from our sample are perceived. Now, we are planning an exhibition in Cairo for 2022 based on our former research.
